where is the snow???

Going to pas in Jan on the 21st with my mate. Was looking at the snow report for Christmas and the new year and the snow... and it looks bad only 15cm on the top slops, no snow is forecast till next week!!!

Has any one gone to pasa in jan?? and if so what is the snow like?? Was looking at the history of pasa and the snow is usally good but i am a bit worry about the lack of snow at the moment.

A group of us are going to Pas on 28th Jan. I have never been but a few of my friends have and the snow is usually really good. I%26#39;m also very worried as I can%26#39;t seem to find a website that forecasts snow soon!

Has anyone just returned from Pas? I would really appreciate you letting us know what the skiing was like!!

P.S In the meantime just keep praying for snow and lots of it!!

Hi i went to pas on JAn 15th last year and there was 80cms of snow at top and 30cms at the bottom.

However i am going back this year as it was so good last year with the night life and the amount of slope on the 21st of Jan.

Lokking at the many sites at the momen tit really is not looking good with only 15cms at top and 10m at the bottom, also many reports are saying its just pure ICE and no snow which is not good news, and to make matters worse if you are staying in PAS you are unable to ski over to Soldu and the other resorts as the main rum out of PAS is closed also the only runs open in PAS are three blue runs and the main red run is partually open.

Also speak to a friend thats working over there if it dosent snow soon then pas will be closing all runs as its too ice and dangerious to ski or board also if your taking your own gear it will et recked.

Im really gutted and i am so hoping it will snow soon, as if not we will all be stuck in a resort where the only thing to do is to drink alchool.

Also there is no snow forecast for the next 10 days at least

|||

Went to Arinsal over xmas and no snow only cannon snow, slopes very busy and dangerous loads coming down in stretchers. From Arinsal to pas was only available by cable car but they are doing there best to get it open good luck...

|||

I%26#39;m really trying to think positive thoughts but i%26#39;ve just read messages on a boarding forum on www.goneboarding.co.uk about contitions in Pas. You can read it for yourself but apparently there are approx 7 runs open consisting of sheet ice, rocks and slush. Can%26#39;t believe I might have wasted £730!! PLEASE PLEASE LET IT SNOW SOON!!!

|||

Dose anyone know any tribal snow dances?????? Please if anyone is going out before jan 28th could they stand at the top of a mountain and sacrifice something to please the snow god of pas de la casa, i think its my only hope now!!!!

There are 10 of us going on jan 28th, we booked a couple of months ago and it was a choice between val de%26#39;sere in France or pas, we chose pas coz its loads cheaper, and now think we could be paying the price.... Well anyway I guess if things dont change and the resort remains a deadly ice montain i hear the beer is cheap!!! And ive always wanted to try ice sculpting so I guess there is some consolation in that. Oh yeah and I just heard that snow is forecast in the uk next week!!!!!! salt in wounds!!!

I was in Pas last week. Weather was like late March It was warm , I didn%26#39;t wear a hat the entire week... snow was very poor. Apart from cannons there was no snow. We tried to Ski to Soldeu last Saturday but could only get to the point where the Funicamp comes up from Encamp. The connecting runs from there were closed. Off piste is non existent.

The snow is OK first thing in the morning. However by later in the day the steeper runs have transformed to moguls of loose snow connected by ice. There are stones on the piste, so don%26#39;t wreck your gear, rent instead! They quote 20 cm at the top and 10 cm at the bottom. Don%26#39;t believe it, unless they also count the layer of ice!

However, we did still have a good time. Ths ski school was great and we decided to make the best of it. Ice really exposes the flaws in your technique, so look on it as an opportunity to improve.

I saw a few broken arms, most of which seemed to have happened when people were trying to get on to the piste, a little above the lifts. Don%26#39;t even think about stepping out at the Olympiades unless you have your skis on as you will fall. I saw countless people come down heavily there all week.

The slopes were overcrowded last week but this should be less of a problem in later January. My son took a big hit from someone who was going too fast for the traffic conditions as did one of the girls in my school class. Thankfully both got away with bumps and bruises.

They are using the cannons to patch up the worst of the ice but they are worried about the low water levels in the resevoirs as they have had to make so much snow up to this point.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news..the snow is bad...but it still beats work!

hello everyone,

Just got back from pas having been 07th-14th, wasnt too bad when we got there, but after a few days, started to get really icy, cannons hadn%26#39;t been on all week as the tempreture even at night was around 2c.

Thought we%26#39;d get the bus to soldeu, really slushy there, saw tempreture%26#39;s of 16c, never seen anything like it, if it dont snow soon i cant see the pistes being open much longer.

Really enjoyed the night life though, so not all bad news.
