What to wear

Hi all, never been skiing before and am wondering what you wear when you go the bars and night clubs, , do you wear jeans and a top and what on your feet lolll.

Have looked on the websites and dosent show anyone in the bars lol, i need help

Going into the bars straight from the slopes for happy hour, most people still wear their ski trousers/ tops before going back to hotels to get shower/ bath/changed. You will need to take waterproof snowboots or walking boots to wear to/from your ski lockers and in the street, as it may be snowing or icy.

The bars are just casual- jeans, tshirts, ( short or long sleeved), sweatshirtsetc.

My son is 19 now, and all he takes is jeans and tshirts, with maybe a couple of decent shirts for the nightclub. Just wears trainers.

I will ask my son what the girls usually wear in the nightclub, and let you know. They may dress up a bit more than the boys do!! I expect jeans and a decent top is fine.

Where are you staying? If you are in a luxury hotel, you will find that people tend to dress more smartly for dinner.( like in the Sport Village or Hermitage). We stayed in the Piolets last year, and most people wore jeans to dinner as well.

Re ski clothes, if it is clear and sunny, it can be very warm on the mountain. If it is cloudy/ snowing it will be very cold!!! Generally, later in the season will be warmer, but we have had some really warm days in feb.

Don%26#39;t wear a thick jumper, it is better to wear thinner layers. We take vest tops, short sleeve thermal vest, long sleeve thermal vest, and polo neck tops (with or without a zip at the neck). You are then prepared for any weather, as it can change from one day to the next.( or even morning to afternoon).

You need ski gloves and ski socks. Warm hat that fits snugly, sunglasses suitable for skiing, and goggles for snowy or cloudy weather.( yellow or orange lenses are best, to help you see better.) We wear fleecy neck bands, that also turn into hats. They are good for pulling up over your chin and nose on the chairlifts if it gets cold! You can buy these in the ski shops in resort.

Most people wear ski trousers and ski jackets rather than all in one suits nowadays.

Are you staying in Soldeu? When are you going?

Omg loving the reply, we are staying at the sport hotel and going in january 2010, im reading through your reply with a notepad and pen jotting it all down, you must think im nuts but i have got no idea what you wear, that sounds so stupid loll.

Thank you so much for being so helpfull.

THANK YOUUUUUU Emily

Jeans, vest-tops and jumpers/fleeces are pretty much the order of the day at the pubs/clubs. I%26#39;m an absolute wuss and I wear my hiking shoes with them %26#39;cause the pavements are usually leathal with snow/ice regardless of which ski resort you%26#39;re at! I have seen girls in heels - but they were being carried by blokes!

Running the risk of the wrath of contributors with the next comment but I also take a second coat with me to wear out in the evenings because 1) I really don%26#39;t like my ski jacket smelling of smoke all the next day on the piste and 2) am much less inclinded to worry what happens to a random coat than my far from cheap ski-kit!

Hope you have a fab time and you%26#39;re working on your ski-fitness :-D

I agree with taking a second coat/jacket. I don%26#39;t like wearing my ski jacket out there, coz knowing my luck, it will get lost, something spilt on it, left on the plane, and it gets too warm in the airport, so end up carrying it!

Andorra does not have a smoking ban as yet, so that is a good point about not wearing ski jacket to the bars/clubs at night.

As Soldeu is only one street through the centre, you don%26#39;t have far to walk for apres ski from the Sport hotel, but yes, don%26#39;t try to totter on the ice in high heels!!! They try to keep the streets and pavements clear, but depends on the weather when you are there.

I take my suede, and leather boots for evenings. If we are going out,(when snowing) I take them in a carrier bag, and wear my snowboots, and change when I get there, so save ruining my boots or getting wet feet!

Forgot to say, do you have TK Max shop near you? They have just got the ski clothes etc in at our local shop, MUCH cheaper than ski shops. I got my son a really expensive jacket last year, for half price.

|||

Thank you or that , i cant stand the smoke im gonna be a nightmare , as soon as i smell of smoke i have to shower lolll,

Yeah excellent idea gonna take another coat, omg im gonna die on the slopes need to start running lolll

When we were at the Poilets last year, smoking was only allowed in the immediate bar area, and outside on the terrace. The lounge section was no smoking. I%26#39;m sure it will be similar at the Sport Hotels.

We had forgotten that being independent, Andorra can make its own laws.
