Any tips for newbies to skiing? Looking at Arsinal as it seems more child friendly. But does anyone know where you can check weather from previous yrs? I dont fancy going and there is no snow! We are a married couple with a 2 1/2 yr old son. Any tips or other suggestions gratefully received.

Check out www.igluski.com
The site has useful info on all of the popular ski resorts and provides details of snowfall throughout the last few winter seasons.
The site shows that Soldeu had good snowfall last year but the year before was quite poor in comparison.
Soldeu has lots of snow making machines now so you should be able to ski regardless of the amount of natural snowfall.
Hope this helps
Jay

Also check ou t the skiclub uk site, they have historic data for most of the popular resorts.
I%26#39;ve not been to Arinsal recently but have I have been to Soldeu/El Tarter twice each winter for 4 out of the last 5 years with a young child.
I would not hestiate to recomend these resorts to you, we first took our son when he was 2. Each area has a creche/ kiddy ski school just near to the gondala exit points half was up the mountain. Child care is 1st class and the children can play indoors, outdoors in a safe snow garden or take ski lessons in a secure area ( from age 3 I think ). We have used the facilities several times.
The Adult Ski School is also excellent with many native English speaking instructors.
Full information on all the facilities can be found on Grandvalira.com.
If you need anything else please ask, there are several people who visit this site who have excellent knowledge of the area.
cheers.
