Which resort?

3 men going to Andorra for weeks skiing end of March, any suggestions on where to base ourselves for easy access to best slopes. which resort is best? Any advice on hotel/apartments on cheap and cheerful basis.

We are flying to Girona.

I just went through this same process last week, trying to figure out where to stay. Every travel agent I spoke with said that it%26#39;s best to stay in Andorra La Vella and then go from there to a resort each day.

i have heard it is a good idea to stay in andorra la vella, how long does it take to travel from A. la vella to pas de la casa or soldeu? Should we rent a car?

It´s sounds like there are buses or some kind of public transportation from Andorra la Vella to the resorts. I asked about renting a car, but was told it wasn´t really needed.

We are going out on 21st, thanks for thinking of us. If anyone knows of a good value hotel in Soldeu thats close to all facilities it would be really helpful? Suggestions very welcome!

I don%26#39;t agree that Andorra la Vella is the best place to stay for the slopes. We have been for the past 2 years and are going again in a few days. We stay in Canillo at the Roc Castell - a village great for families, lots of restaurants, amazing food/drink at the Swimming/Ice Rink centre/local Sports centre. Amazing 3-course menus for 12 euros. We can walk to the lifts.

For 3 men, I%26#39;d say Soldeu or Pas might be more appropriate for night-life etc. There is a good bus that runs along the valley floor connecting all the resorts. See www.grandvilara.com for more details. Have a great holiday.

I´m starting to agree that Andorra la Vella is not the best place to stay. Just got in a couple of hours ago, the weather was terrible but we took a taxi up to the gondola that goes to Grand Valira. It was snowing up on the mountain, and poor visibility (someone recommended to get up early for better weather) so we ended up not going up. Took the bus back to Andorra la Vella. Now we´re trying to figure out whether to rent a car so we can go to different resorts, or what.

replying on my husbands behalf as he is now also in Andorra. After much searching he found an apartment which seems great and is 2 mins from main gondola and very central in Soldeu. he def thinks he is in the best place. he has a hire car Ford focus estate which cost £113.00 for the week so can drive to other places if need be.

Where did he get that great rental rate?? Do you have an idea?? We just rented a car this afternoon (at a much higher rate, this is killing me now) and will be heading up to Arcalis tomorrow. Will report then!
