Hi all, we are traveling to Andorra la Vella in February and would love to try skiing. Where would be the closest ski resort for us and is it handy to get ski school/clothes/ski hire out there which is appropriate for skiing as we don%26#39;t have any proper clothes etc. Also, we fly into Girona and was wondering if anyone can recommend a suitable company to use to get transfers to Andorra la Vella. Cheers!

We rent a car to drive to the Pyrenees from Girona. It takes about 2 1/2 - 3 hours
Otherwise
Girona airport transfers. ◊Girotransfer operate a fleet of taxis, minibuses %26amp; coaches covering all destinations including Andorra ski resorts. Tel +34 687 763 165 or in the UK +44 (0)844 837 3531. Their web site shows about £160 each way for a private transfer. Our mid sized car hire is around £200 for a week. shuttledirect.com/en/…
I believe buses from Barcelona are much cheaper.

Hi ,
We recently flew by Ryanair to Girona, our flight was redirected to Perpignon in France and after a three hour wait we were bused to Girona. There is a bus which collects people from the airport and drops to Andorra, (i think it may be called novotel, I%26#39;m not sure). We rented a car, and found it relatively comfortable to drive on the other side of the road and found the car very useful as there wasn%26#39;t a huge amount of snow while we were there so we took a day or two off skiing and went touring instead. The countryside is beautiful!.
Word of warning start exercising now as skiing can be very hard on your legs, especially if you have not done much exercise recently. We skied the first two days in Encamp and then went to Pas de la Cassa. If you are a beginner then Pas de La Cassa or Soldieu are the place for you. There are several green and blue slopes in Pas de La Cassa. Encamp is the closest ski resot to Andorra La Vella, you can book a ski lesson one on one or in a class at the ski slope (depending on availability)
We found a ski hire place in Encamp where our ski%26#39;s and boots worked out at €10 per day!!! It is cheaper to rent out the skis and boots for a week at a time rather than day by day. I don%26#39;t know if you can hire the salopets and ski jackets, i think you generally have to bring your own, take a trip to Dunnes they are selling them at a reasonable price.
Best of luck,
Patricia
