A quick question for you guys.
My wife and I are off to Soldeu in March next year with 2 friends.
I%26#39;m wondering if it%26#39;s cheaper / more expensive or the same to buy our ski pass before we go through our operator First Choice?
Our friends have never skied before so my other question is what%26#39;s the difference between a %26#39;local pass%26#39; that Frist Choice offer as part of their learn to ski package and a full pass?
Can anyone help?

i can try and help you, i have been skiing before in andorra and the ski lift passes were about the same really i am lead to believe anyway!! the difference between the two passes is that the local pass is just for the ski area you are staying in. the area pass allows you to explore all 5 areas which are all situated next to each other.
hope this helps any others questions just ask i will try and help you

May I suggest www.worldski.co.uk for your lift pass needs.

Hi. Go to www.grandvalira.com and click on %26quot;on the slopes%26quot; . On the sub-menu you will get %26quot;ski passes%26quot;. and a season calendar. The week pass rate will depend on when your skiing in March as the weeks are either high or low season. This site will tell you all you need to know about ski school, weather etc etc. As you trip gets nearer you can watch the snow on the web cam....my favourite occupation when not there myself.

Sorry, forgot to mention the area stuff. A local pass will allow you to ski in the Soldeu/El Tartet sector. For a beginner this will DEFINITELY be adequate. To venture further into areas requiring the full Grandvalira pass you should be competent on red runs. There is plenty of skiing on the %26quot;local pass%26quot;for those gaining confidence. However, if you have skied before and hope to be on red runs this time I would recommend the full Granvalira pass and DEFINITELY if you will be going into ski school lessons. If your instructor decides to take you over towards Pas de la Cassa your %26quot;local pass%26quot; will not let you through the turnstiles at the lifts which will frustrate your instructor (and you) immensely!

Hello
I think everyone is on the same track with advice.
The cost of ski passes is about the same in resort as it is booking in advance. It is just one less thing to worry about on a busy first day.
The learn to ski pack pass is only for Soldeu El Tarter and Canillo which is plenty for a beginner. The learn to ski as a package is a great deal as it includes ski school and ski hire as well as the lift ticket.
if your friends do progress well during the week I would recommend skiing with them to Canillo, it would take a whole afternoon but the restaurant there is excellent and if its sunny the terrace is great for relaxing and having a beer.
Have a great holiday!! Check out some of the local bands at Fat Alberts!

Why is it that once you are not a fully fledged beginner BUT you are still only capable on Blues, they practically ban you from the Learn to Ski package? The lessons are exactly the same, the ski area you want is the same, the ski equipment is the same, but they expect you to pay more?
Surely you should be able to buy this package, and then buy a day pass for the whole area if your class is advancing and heading off to a tougher run elsewhere?
