Can anyone help....I am skiing with my family this Christmas in Soldeu and wondering whether to book the ski lessons/ski hire in advance or on arrival? Will it be mobbed/booked up when we get there? I imagine our first days skiing will be Christmas Day...so will be be ski schools open that day? Out of 5 of us, 2 have never skied before so they naturally need lessons day one.

Are you aranging everything yourself or going with a package tour. If you are going with a package, it is best to let them sort all that out.
If you want to book ski in advance try here - www.snowrental.net
Do you want an instructor just for you, or do you want to join the 2 dozen others ?

Grateful for response from Essex.....will enquire with the package company. We%26#39;re looking for group skiing school I think to make it more economic so we%26#39;ll also look at recommended website and compare. Thanks.

Hi. I ski in Soldeu a lot and last year took my kids for Christmas. Christmas Day will be the same as any other Monday!! I don%26#39;t go on package hols so check out the arrangements regarding ski school with your hol company. Group lessons are brilliant value for money and sociable too. you can always have a private lesson in your free time if you want a bit of extra tuition. Morning ski school starts at 10am ....on the monday the first 1 1/2 hrs will be spent splitting you into the correct ability groups with you continuing to ski until 11.30am. There is then a break. At 1pm (I think) you then re-join your group for the remaining 1 1/2hrs of the lesson. From Tues onwards its 10-1pm. A word of advise....get all your ski kit sorted out, hired etc on the Sunday (the hire shops stay open til 8pm I think) Monday morning is a living hell if you leave it all to do on the morning ESPECIALLY FOR PARENTS!!....you%26#39;re on holiday and don%26#39;t want stress so GET SORTED EARLY. The queues for the gondoler lift will be manic on Christmas Day so get there AT 9am ....you can then chill out with a coffee in the cafe and watch others getting stressed!! You will need to queue at the ski school windows (to your right as you come out of the gondoler station up the mountain)to hand in your ticket....this can take a while but if you are on the lift at 9 it%26#39;ll be a doddle. Soldeu/El Tarter ski school is said to be the best in Europe....the instructors are lovely (most are my friends!!) Their top priority is ensuring you have a great holiday and go home a better skier. ENJOY :-)

Hi
I would agree with what the last person said book in advance and try to sort as much out as you can on the sunday. Tour operators tend to have the best deals for beginners ask about learn to ski packages which includes ski hire, ski lessons and lif ticket for the Soldeu El Tarter and Canillo area.
Definately make Monday morning an early start just to beat all the ques.
I am sure you will have a great holiday and your friends will love it. Christmas is awesome in the village.
Have a fantastic holiday!
