Looking to go on my first skiing holiday with hubby in January 2006. Have read rave reviews about both the Sport Hotel and the Sporthotel Village in Soldeu, Andorra. Which one do people recommend? (Long transfers don%26#39;t bother us....)

We will be staying at the Sporthotel Village for the 4th time in Jan %26#39;06. This hotel is by far the best in Soldeu. The food is absolutely fantastic. You could not be nearer the slopes and many rooms have wonderful views.
A few years ago we stayed in some apartments opposite the Sport Hotel and part of the deal was that you ate all your meals in the Sport. The meals were very good, but not in the same league as the Village. Back then we had our kids with us and visited all the hotels in Soldeu to see where we would like to stay on our next visit as a couple. We decided on the Village and have never been disappointed. We will be going back next year for our 5th visit to Soldeu. I think the price difference is about ��100 but the Village is well worth it. Try the directski.com website as they have by far the best prices.

We have been skiing in Andorra for the past 9 years, staying at both the Sport hotel and The Village. They are both excellent hotels in a fantastic location (they are practically opposite each other) but I would choose The Village every time if you dont mind paying the extra. Try to get a room with a view of the mountain. The food in The Village is nicer IMO and the location could not be better with the gondola being in the complex. The bar area is nicer here too, having views of the mountains where as the Sport bar/ lounge always feels a bit dark to me. The village is a nicer place to sit with that apres ski drink!!
You will have a ball, the skiing area has really improved in the last few years. Have fun!

Sport village great no complaints. we have been visiting soldeu for 10 years it only gets better each time we go

Stayed at both, Sport is very nice but Village is the best hotel in Soldeu. We had a huge room, almost a suite, with a balcony overlooking the slopes - fantastic!

Thanks for everyones replies - unfortunately, 2 weeks after this post I broke my back - no first skiing trip for the forseeable future. Off to New York on the Queen Mary 2 instead. Will check out the latest %26#39;Sport%26#39; reviews when I am feeling braver...hopefully 2008.

Hi all
We%26#39;re thinking of staying at the Village next winter.Our daughter is a very fussy eater and won%26#39;t eat anyone elses %26#39;home cooking%26#39;(go figure) anyway do they serve the usual %26#39;junk food%26#39; for kids?I know she%26#39;ll only eat on holidays burgers,chips,sausages, hotdogs ect.
