First time to arinsal staying at St gothard hotel. Has anyone got any advice on the skis to hire(we have hired the standard one but wondering if we should get any better ones but we are only inter), where we can put the skis and where to go in the night?

Hi - I have just returned (2 days ago) from a weeks skiing in Arinsal. We all stayed at the St Gothard, and I feel you won%26#39;t be disappointed by the hotel itself, but you may be disappointed by it%26#39;s location. It is at the bottom of the hill, and it requires a pretty sweaty walk to both the St Moritz Ski hire etc and the Gondola itself. There is a bus stop opposite the hotel but more often than not it was either full or the drivers were playing silly buggers by saying that there only 4 seats when it was obvious that it was not true.
The skiing was good rather than excellent, but a good time was had by all 7 members of my family who have varying levels of skill. Back to the hotel - it serves very good food for this type of hotel and the staff are great, friendly, helpful and multi lingual. There really is not much offered in the way of entertainment other than a couple calling themselves Peck %26amp; Peck. They are chain smoking musicians who are adequate in entertainment value. The drinks in the hotel are not cheap, there are cheaper bars in arinsal but you have the hill to negotiate both up and down. Overall - would I go back - Yes I would! I hope that this helps.

From what you say I presume there are no laws banning smoking in Aransol, is this right?

Hi
No-one smokes at meals in the hotels but I am afraid that everybody and their brother lights up in the bars. In the St Gothard bar the resident entertainers are both smoking all the time and extolling the virtues of smoking to whoever is watching %26amp; listening to them. None of my family smoke so we found it a bit much at times.

Was hoping the law would be in, as France and Spain now have these laws, not sure I would have booked here if I had of known.Suppose I will have to grin and bear it.
