Pas in April

Is it worth it?

Thinking of booking for 30th March for a week in the Magic Pas, what%26#39;s the year on year ave fall for that time of year?

Anyone? Thanks in advance

This probably means nothing, but since no one has answered so far...I was in Andorra two years ago mid-March, and the snow was very slushy. I have no idea what snowfall has been lately, but depending on where you%26#39;re from, I might consider North America instead.

Andorra gets its best snow when the equinox storms hit the UK. Atlantic low pressure systems come in from the ocean carrying huge amounts of moisture. The systems send fronts across Spain and into France, crossing the Pyrenees as they do.

Or put more simply, Andorra typically gets loads of snow at the end of March.

The first equinox snows arrived last night. About a foot of snow in the villages, maybe 50cm at the peaks.

Its still snowing heavily and the entire lift system is shut at the moment.

Some really big snow storms on the long range forecast for Easter weekend.

Wax those boards up people :)

any idea how long a fresh fall is good for in Soldeu? Im not our till March 17, next week looks warm, so will this weeks snow still be ok?

|||

Before yesterday the last snow fall was 4/02 and its been very sunny since. That%26#39;s a month of sun and you will be there in 1.5 weeks.

Its not expected to be so sunny and top up falls will happen quite regularly now.

As of 9am 5/03 they%26#39;d had 45cm and have more now than they have had since Christmas. And its still snowing and the temps for the next few days are very, very cold.

The depths were 100/90 before today%26#39;s snow falls and the really cold weather means the snow cannons will be on every night too, topping it up.

You should have some very good skiing.

ccol - that sounds promising. Whilst i have some local knowledge.. would you be able to give me a run down on whats best in the area for an intermediate / advanced skiier. I know its aa good beginner area (and ill have a beginner with me) but just wondering if there are some more challanging runs too.... and any in particular you recommend.

look at the Piste Map on the GrandValira Website - there is an interactive map too:

www.grandvalira.com/gv/main.aspx…

You will see that the majority of the slopes at Pas and Grau Roig are classed as Black or Red (some of the blacks are pretty steep), although there are blue %26amp; green runs around, and the fact that some of the reds are quite wide makes them feasable for %26#39;end-of-the-week%26#39; beginners.

Soldeu and El Tartar have more easy cruising blues.

IMO Pas is THE best place to stay in the Grand Valira for %26#39;seasoned%26#39; skiiers and you will find terrain to challenge you, plus there is a %26#39;terrain park%26#39; with jumps, bumps and %26#39;berms%26#39; for %26#39;boardercross%26#39; type practice. (I have skiid for MANY years although I am far from great, but I will try ALL the runs in any resort, and did not get bored here)

Soldeu would be the better choice for beginners, early intermediates and nervous skiiers, but I found some %26#39;gullies%26#39; even in the blue runs that were fun for jumps, %26#39;aeroplaning%26#39;, moguls and dodging the trees!
