is water safe to drink in andorra please?

Anyone know? I know in many parts of France it is safe but then not in many parts of Spain.

Straight off the mountains, how could it not be safe ?

Here is what I was told by the hotel manager in El Tarter. The water in Andorra is perfectly safe to drink. However because it might be different in composition to water in your home country, it might upset your stomach. To avoid any tummy upsets he recommended that we drink the local bottled water. They sell it very cheaply in large bottles in the supermarkets, and very expensively at the piste restaurants. You could of course chance it and just drink the tap water.

So, you %26quot;know%26quot; *in many parts of France it is safe but then not in many parts of Spain*?? I say because it%26#39;s just not true, unless these %26quot;parts of Spain%26quot; are the islands that may have specific water supply problems.

Andorra is Europe, the same is Spain or France or the UK.... So, there are sanitary controls in tap water. The problem, as the poster above said, is the different mineral composition and local bacteria of each place. You can get your stomach upset when traveling anywhere a bit far from your home (talking about %26quot;civilised%26quot; countries), and this does not depend on political borders, but geographic distance.

According this article

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12615374

%26quot;Risk of travellers%26#39; diarrhoea is about 7% in developed countries and 20-50% in the developing world%26quot;

So, better drink bottled water when traveling, anywhere.

(quite interesting the part about risk in the UK ;)
