prices

Could anybody tell me the approx prices of drinks/food in soldeu?

|||

I%26#39;m going to Soldeu on the 18th so have been doing a bit of research into prices.

I%26#39;m afraid it isn%26#39;t good news. Due to the falling pound, as with everywhere in Europe the prices have risen dramatically.

Beers are around 5 Euros a pints, shorts are more expensive than this, although you get far bigger measures. Expect to pay 12 Euros for a hotdog and chips on the slopes. A small chocolate bar is 3 or 4 Euros.

To make things cheaper either go back down into town for lunch or buy some food from the supermarket and take this up with you. Work out where the happy hours are in the evenings and head to these bars for cheaper drinks deals.

Unfortunately Andorra is no longer the cheap ski destination it once was!

Hope this helps

Nice one... at least the snow is looking good eh?

Hope you have a brilliant time. You never know I might see you out having a beer one night!

Just returned from a great week. Stayed in pas, but ate in Soldeu a few times. We were dissapointed with the on-piste eating facilities. Unlike the Alps, they were all fast-food type places, no character, all the same, no open fires %26amp; pricey.

On piste from Soldeu at the Espiolets ski area a goulash was 9 euro, chips 3.25, soup 4.40 (it was actually a clear soup more like a chicken stock cube in water) %26amp; bread roll 85c, Plus a 4% service charge on top.

At the bottom of the mountain, in Soldeu, underneath the gondala, with a terrific view of the slope, is a lovely restaurant that had more atmosphere, metal cutlery %26amp; bigger serves for a similar price. Called %26#39;Solineu%26#39; I think. Right on the side of the slope so can wear your ski boots %26amp; not bother about walking right back into the town with skis/boards etc. Bolognese %26amp; veal schnitzel were 8euro each, inluding some vegetables. Gluwein (hot red wine with spices) was 2.80 euro there. Service charge was 4% there too.

If eating out, always check what the service charge is. Some places add nothing, one place we saw added 15%!! This certainly adds up if you are getting a 19euro steak. The pound is slightly better now, so you might be ok. Have a great time.

Dalton,

out of interest, what was the nightlife like in Pas?

I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s a bit livelier than Soldeu so was thinking of having a night out there if Soldeu is a bit quiet.

I have been to Pas twice, and Soldeu once. The nightlife in Pas De La Casa is great, lasts until the very early/late hours, but the nightlife is poor poor poor in Soldeu as its a family resort, there is literally 2/3 bars to go to and quite a few restaurants and its more expensive than pas.

Stay in Pas and visit Soleu during the day/evening and then get the bus back to Pas!

Just seen this forum, but will add my input for reference.

Andorra has certainly gone up in price over the last few years, in all aspects.Last feb we were quite shocked at the food prices on the slopes( 10 euros for a pizza, and similar for hot dogs etc), but we then went to the 3 valleys in March, staying in Courchevel, and prices were double.20 euros for a pizza. Got cheaper away from Courchevel, but still higher than the Grand Valira.

We used to be able to stay in a luxury hotel in Soldeu for the price of a 3* in France, but not any more.As someone said, Andorra is no longer a cheap option, but still less then the Alps.

Some bars have Happy Hour from 5pm, when the lifts close, and beers are 2 for the price of 1.As has been said, food is cheaper at the bottom of the gondola, so if you are in Soldeu at lunchtime it is worth catching the gondola down to eat.

Morning ski school ends at 1pm so get your table before then to beat the rush.

When our boys did ski school, I used to get a table while my hubby waited for them to come back.
