I have just booked our first skiing holiday to Soldeu at Christmas. We%26#39;re staying at the Hermitage on B %26amp; B basis- only I%26#39;ve just realised that the xmas gala dinner was for the half-boarders so now I%26#39;m panicking that there won%26#39;t be anywhere open to eat etc!!
Also my teenage boys are 1,17 and 20. Will the younger ones be allowed in bars etc?
Will everywhere be open throughout xmas week?
Panic Panic Panic

Firstly you%26#39;re going to just love love love the Hermitage!!! I could LIVE there for eternity!
The bar is kind of open plan and very relaxed. Your younger boys should be fine... I%26#39;ve seen young kids in there before (although they were very well behaved).
There is also a juice bar / non-alcoholic bar on the floor below (near the spa). It serves some awesome drinks and perfect if you’ve been hitting the slopes hard or been in the gym or Wellness Spa.
With regards to xmas dinner I’d email ahead direct to the hotel to make a table reservation (if you want to dine in, that is). They reply quickly and in perfect English in my experience. I recommend Fat Albert’s just across the road if they have an email address you could try them too.
Xmas over there during the day is just an average ski day. A few Santa outfits that will make you smile though!
Just as an aside… I’m looking to go back (again!) next season, but the rates have steadily been going up and up each year. So much so that I’m wondering if it’s better to give it a miss this year. May I enquire as to who you booked with and the adults price? I appreciate that you’re going b%26amp;b. Thanks so much and I hope my input helps a little! Lois

Hello ,
It may help you to know that the %26#39;Merlot; Restaurant in the Aparthotel Hort de Popaire will again be serving a full traditional Christmas dinner menu afternoon and evening. if you are interested, we can send you our menu, prices and reservation form once finalised mid August.
For the bars, the children are allowed in bars upuntil 10pm, it then depends on which bar you are in on how strict they are. A bar like the Piccidilly under the Sport hotel is very family friendly as is the Aspen bar in the main street.

Hi, just joined the forums. Have skiied in Soldeu for 11 years, you have chosen a great resort for your first trip. Very friendly, and quieter than the Alps.
My sons are now 18 and 23, and Soldeu is their fave resort.Younger son used to go out with older brother after dinner to the pubs for a while when he was about 13,but came back to the hotel so brother could go clubbing.
He says you can buy beer at 16, and get into the nightclubs as long as you look old enough, as they don%26#39;t ask for ID at the door.
Smoking was still allowed indoors in Andorra last year, so bars and clubs get smoky.
He likes Fat Alberts, the Aspen,Slim Jims, and usually meets people he has met on previous holidays, as many people return year after year.
The centre of the street is noisy with loud music up to 2am or later, but you won%26#39;t hear this at the Hermitage,Sport or Sport Village hotels.
It is a very safe resort, not like a big town.

Message for owlcatmoon,
We stayed at the Sport Village for 5 years in a row after it first opened, but as you say, since the Hermitage and the Wellness centre were added on, prices have rocketed. We stayed at the Piolets last year(near the gondola)and had lovely rooms with piste views, and the food buffet was good.We would have returned there, but again prices have soared for next year, and we have to go in feb half term, so that%26#39;s worse.
We have booked the Bruxelles hotel for next feb based on good reviews on TA and good location. It is only a 2* but food reviews are good.
I get a discount from my T.Agent, and half board inc flights from Gatwick was around 750 pounds pp.
By the time we have added on passes, and equipment for those that need it,this skiing lark is getting very expensive.
Still cheaper than the Alps though.
We have booked with Chrystal, and they are giving free lift passes to kids 11 and under.
However, they are not offering the Youth pass, which is for 12-17yrs, and available online or in resort, and is cheaper than the adult pass.
